Primary Purpose

 

This position is responsible for the configuration, implementation, and maintenance of the server infrastructure and server security systems managed by the Princeton ISD Technology Department. This position will assist in identifying appropriate solutions to be integrated into system operations and make recommendations for implementation.

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Certifications

  • High School Diploma
  • College degree preferred. Training (corporate, military, certificate) in lieu of college will be considered. Industry experience will be considered in lieu of college
  • Technical Certifications preferred (Security+, Linux+, Network+, ...)

 

 

 

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Experience with Windows Server
  • Experience in Linux operating systems
  • Experience in directory services (particularly LDAP & Active Directory)
  • Understanding of basic networking principles and troubleshooting
  • Scripting skills (Shell, Python, Powershell)
  • Advanced hardware & software troubleshooting skills
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory
  • Versioning control solutions (Git)
  • Understanding of RAID, ZFS, NFS, iSCSI, SMB setup and troubleshooting
  • Quality customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and is a team player with the ability to work well independently
  • Strong organizational skills, communication skills, and can demonstrate problem solving skills and a willingness to learn

 

 

 

 

 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assists in the planning, design, documentation, and implementation of various systems to include network equipment, firewalls, camera systems, and software applications
  • Makes recommendations for new equipment, software, and services to purchase and works with various vendors for procurement
  • Perform on-site and remote technical support
  • Support and maintain virtual environments and servers
  • Maintains excellent communication with all key stakeholders
  • Creates and maintains procedures and good technical documentation
  • Provides emergency on-call support
  • Designs and implements all security related functions for networking services
  • Responsible for designing logging, audit reports, and reporting metrics
  • Responsible for warranty and maintenance repairs on all related networking hardware/software and cameras
  • Manages remote access (VPN)
  • Provide supplemental support for help desk activities
  • Cross-training with other members of the sysadmin team

 

Other Duties

  • The Director of Technology may assign other duties as needed

  • Large number of telephone calls and several tasks and projects open simultaneously; maintaining composure under pressure. After-hours and some weekend work required for maintenance, upgrades, and installations. Must be able to lift 35
